Abstract

This review analyzes the Conadis publication Costos asociados a la discapacidad en los hogares del Perú: un enfoque mixto (2024), which highlights the economic impact of disability on Peruvian households. The study combines quantitative and qualitative methods to estimate the additional costs faced by these families, revealing significant gaps in health, education, employment, autonomy, and accessibility. The mixed-method approach and the use of the standard of living method allow for a broader understanding of disability as a phenomenon that affects the household as a whole, rather than just the individual. The review emphasizes the study’s relevance for the design of inclusive and evidence-based public policies, and the urgent need for updated data and regionally differentiated approaches.
