Abstract

The interview presents the experience of Nicandro Machaca Mamani, a graduate of the training programs offered by the National School of Public Administration (ENAP), who describes how he applied the competencies acquired through these programs in the municipal administration of the District of Calana and, previously, the District Municipality of Pocollay. His testimony demonstrates how leadership, teamwork, strategic planning, interinstitutional coordination, and results-based decision-making enabled the successful management of emergency situations, strengthened municipal administration, and facilitated the achievement of the goals established under the Incentive Program of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. It also highlights the importance of developing managerial competencies, ethics, integrity, continuous learning, and the professional training of public servants to create public value and promote citizen-centered public administration. Finally, the interview emphasizes the role of ENAP in strengthening leadership capacities and advancing the professionalization of the Peruvian civil service.
