Docentes frente a la diversidad sexual y la educación sexual integral: Tensiones y desafíos en la educación secundaria peruana

Abstract

This article analyzes teachers’ perceptions of sexual diversity and comprehensive sexual education in Peruvian secondary schools, focusing on the tensions and challenges that emerge in educational practice. The study is based on empirical research derived from a graduate thesis and adopts a qualitative approach.

Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with secondary school teachers and analyzed using thematic content analysis. The findings reveal the persistence of homophobic attitudes, limited institutional support, and gaps in teacher training, which affect the effective implementation of comprehensive sexual education. At the same time, the study identifies emerging efforts by some teachers to promote inclusive educational practices despite structural and cultural constraints.

The article concludes that addressing these challenges requires strengthening teacher training, promoting institutional commitment, and fostering reflective spaces that contribute to the construction of inclusive educational environments respectful of sexual diversity.
